WHY PRIVATE TUTORING?

Do you feel as though your child does not have the desire to learn the way they once did? Do they seem to have a demotivation for education? Many times, becoming demotivated can cause a child's grades to drop severely.

While grades are not a direct reflection of intelligence, they are a necessary and important unit that can dictate the outcomes of your child's future success.

If you find yourself in this position, a private tutor may be the perfect solution for you.

A private tutor offers -

A Personalized Approach

Since all children are unique, their education needs must be tailored to their style of learning. Private tutoring allows for your child to be taught in ways that best suit their educational needs.

Less Distractions
Large classrooms are not only distracting but they can cause a child to not use their time to its full potential. We provide a peaceful and quiet setting for your child to get the most out of their time here.

A New Love of Learning

When your child is able to learn in the way that best suits them, their confidence is able to grow. Through hard work and dedication, the desire to learn can flourish in their lives.

HOW IT WORKS

When a parent first contacts me, I listen to what the child’s needs are. Then I schedule them to come for diagnostic testing which allows me to assess their current level of Reading and Math as well as their strength and weaknesses. After the testing, the parent(s) and I decide together what the best plan would be to help the child.

For Reading, I emphasize reading comprehension, writing and decoding. For Math, depending on the grade level, I teach and reinforce basic skills from place value and basic operations through pre-Algebra. Over the year, I have learned lots of “tricks” to help the students learn and retain the math skills they have struggled with, like multiplication and division facts, fractions etc.

I always assign homework reviewing the skills we have learned, unless the parent doesn’t want it. This allows most students to just come one hour a week with the other hour being reviewed at home. Remember, my philosophy has always been “The difference between progress and success is support at home”.

Experience has always proven this to be true for my students.

Most students are scheduled 2 on 1, meaning two students to one tutor. If a student is 1 on 1 for any reason, the rate is a bit higher due to the more intense instruction.

Middle school students often need help with organization, study skills and homework support. I stay in contact with the students’ teachers, work on test taking skills and time management as well as closely checking Schoology and Home Access.
